Reflecting on the Journey: Building a Community for Positive Change in Prince George
Introduction
When I stepped into the role of primary administrator for the Enough Already! Prince George Voters For Positive Change Facebook group on January 19, 2025, I knew our community was hungry for meaningful civic conversation. At the time, the group stood at 2,788 members, a dedicated circle of residents looking for better answers, greater transparency, and genuine council accountability.
Today, that group has grown to 6,900 members.
That is an increase of over 4,100 citizens who have joined the fold to ask tough questions, share ideas, and demand better stewardship for our city. This growth isn’t just a number on a screen; it is concrete proof that the people of Prince George are ready for responsive, accountable leadership.
The Four Pillars of Our Vision
Throughout this campaign and my time leading the Enough Already! group, our focus has remained anchored on four essential priorities for Prince George:
- Responsive Leadership: City government must listen to residents, engage openly, and respect community feedback before decisions are made, not after.
- Council Accountability: Tax dollars and municipal decisions belong to the public. Elected officials must be transparent in their decision-making and held accountable for results.
- Responsible Stewardship: Managing city resources efficiently, spending wisely, and ensuring long-term municipal planning protects both current taxpayers and future generations.
- Community Safety & Taxation: Addressing the real safety concerns in our neighborhoods while keeping property taxes fair, predictable, and manageable for working families and seniors.
Looking Ahead
The rapid growth of our online community shows that citizens across Prince George are actively looking for positive, constructive change. Building this space together has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey, and it serves as a powerful foundation as we look toward the future of our city.
Thank you to everyone who has posted, commented, shared, and engaged along the way. Our city’s best days are ahead when we work together to shape them.
Moving Forward with Enough Already!
On September 19th, I made the conscious decision to step back from my administrator role with Enough Already! Prince George Voters For Positive Change. I asked Jana to remove me as an admin so there would be zero question of bias or influence, I wanted to ensure the page remained fair, transparent, and that I was on the exact same footing as every other candidate in the municipal election.
During those final three weeks of the campaign, Jana and Tim worked tirelessly to moderate, clean up, and keep the page running smoothly. A massive thank you goes out to both of them for handling that workload, and to the community as a whole, for the most part, discussions remained respectful, thoughtful, and fulsome.
Now that the election is wrapped up, I am returning to my role as an admin. While I gave this campaign everything I had, the electorate made its choice. While it appears public safety and downtown security weren’t the deciding factors for everyone at the ballot box, we now have a council with strong, versatile minds, a real “Swiss Army knife” mindset, alongside new leadership in the Mayor’s chair, fresh councillors, and solid returning incumbents. As we have done over the last four years, this group will support council when they make good moves for Prince George and respectfully call them out when they miss the mark.
Moving forward, Enough Already! will continue to serve as a dedicated local civic information page for Prince George and the surrounding area. That means our sole focus remains strictly on municipal, local issues. If folks want to debate provincial politics, there are plenty of other places to do that, but this platform will stay focused right here on Prince George itself.
I’m glad to be back, no longer as a candidate, but as a resident committed to keeping our community informed, engaged, and moving forward.
Conclusion & Thank You
Thank you to everyone who posted, commented, shared, and engaged throughout this election season. Our city’s best days are ahead when we work together, stay informed, and keep our leaders accountable.
Sincerely,
John Zukowski.
