John Zukowski is a long-time Prince George business owner, technical security specialist, and candidate for Prince George City Council. Calling Prince George home since 2005, John brings over three decades of practical experience spanning public safety, municipal services, corporate security, and independent small business.
Public Safety & Technical Security Background
Born and raised in British Columbia, John’s commitment to community safety began early, serving as a volunteer firefighter in the Fraser Canyon and working directly alongside municipal emergency services in heavy recovery operations.
Transitioning into the security sector, John earned his trades certification as an alarm technician and specialized in physical premise protection. His expertise led to advanced training at the Transport Canada Training Institute in Cornwall, Ontario, qualifying him in aerodrome, aviation, and critical infrastructure security, eventually serving as a training supervisor for major transport facility transitions.
System Infrastructure & Regional Leadership
Building on his field experience, John served as a Training Officer for a ULC AAA-certified Central Monitoring Station, overseeing real-time security operations for high-security provincial assets, government ministries, and primary commercial developments. As founder of ASC Advanced Security Concepts, he managed specialized infrastructure protection for telecommunications networks and later served as Senior Alarm Technician with Brink’s Home Security, managing regional operations and directing field teams across Vancouver Island.
Frontline Business Leadership & Civic Advocacy
Since moving to Prince George in 2005, John has been a dedicated local homeowner and active member of the commercial community, operating Pacific Body Jewellery & Piercing on Specialty Row (1234 Fourth Avenue) in the downtown core.
Facing the sharp rise in property crime and challenges impacting downtown merchants, John co-founded the Prince George Business Owners Advocacy Group. The group organized local business leaders and mobilized community members to demand action, an effort that culminated in filling City Hall chambers and prompting Mayor Lyn Hall to establish the municipal Safe Clean Inclusive Downtown Committee, on which John was appointed to serve.
Recognizing that long-term solutions required direct leadership inside City Hall, John ran for Prince George City Council in 2022. Earning the backing of 3,440 local voters, his campaign demonstrated strong, widespread support for practical safety and local business protection.
Today, John continues his work on the ground, including his service on Mayor Simon Yu’s Select Committee on Public Safety, bringing frontline business experience and proven civic advocacy directly to the municipal level.
His candidacy for City Council is rooted in fiscal accountability, practical safety solutions, and direct, transparent communication with the people of Prince George.
