John Zukowski | involvement in civic change for Prince George
John Zukowski | involvement in civic change. Zukowski has been a long term advocate for our small and medium downtown businesses. As the spokes person for the Prince George Downtown Business Advocacy Group* (Facebook group). Speaking to the issues small and medium businesses are facing. Due to the losses from to crime, theft, vandalism, broken windows and fires. This page is a timeline of interviews are radio articles covering the plight of our downtown. This covers two Mayoral terms from Lynn Hall’s council (2018 ~ 2022) to Simon Yu’s current council (2022 ~ 2026).
This is eight years of zero traction, in some cases even backward motion was noted. Bad decisions and even worse bad initiatives. This lead to our downtown becoming dirty, unsafe, and crime ridden with drug dealing, drug use and even worse the cost of human life due to addictions and broken systems. Mayor’s select committees, facilitated meetings, working group meetings and yet no real traction. Other than money out the window, where the streets remained the same.
This page is meant to refresh your memory of events that shaped Prince George since 2018. It’s easy to try and forget that we have elected folks who’s responsibility it is as elected civic officials to address these issues in a proactive manner. Committee’s struck and working groups formed, reports issued and presented and yet the song remains the same as well as some of the “actors”* (*Councillors) who created great sound bites, but failed to deliver. These are “your elected officials” who’s responsibility it is to address the issues of business and the community at large.
